Elisha Wiesel, son of Holocaust survivor and Nobel Peace Prize winner Elie Wiesel, will be chief information officer at Goldman Sachs Group Inc., the bank announced Monday.
Wiesel will oversee more than 10,000 people in the bank’s technology division.
He will replace R. Martin Chavez in a rotation of top management posts that followed the appointment of second-in-command Gary Cohn to Donald Trump’s administration, CNN reports.

“Elisha will set the firm’s technology strategy and standards, further modernize our technology platforms and work with businesses to leverage technology to realize our commercial objectives,” the bank announced in a memo.
Wiesel came to Goldman Sachs in 1994 and is currently chief risk officer of the securities division and global head of securities division desk strategists. He will take on his new role in April.
Wiesel, 44, is the only child of Elie Wiesel, the author of “Night,” who died last summer at age 87.
Elisha Wiesel said his love of computers drew him to Goldman Sachs. For several years he organized the firm’s “Midnight Madness,” an elaborate day-long scavenger hunt that raised millions of dollars for charity.
